How I got here
Before hospitality, I was an EMT. Then I spent six years as a firefighter with the US Forest Service: five on a hotshot crew stationed on the North Coast, the mountainous northwestern California coast near Oregon, and one on a helitack crew stationed in Durango, Colorado.
I settled in Colorado Springs, and chance meetings there led me to four sets of mentors, one after another.
The first was a bed and breakfast owner in Manitou Springs who also ran short-term rentals. He first taught me how to play the STR game, and what it means to be hospitable.
The second was two former US Army Special Forces soldiers. They taught me to scale and run several markets at once, to put every property on the same written systems and checklists, and to build and lead a team.
The third was a couple who built a 37-acre mountain wilderness glamping resort and event venue, with dozens of structures guests can rent. They taught me to see the whole place as one stay, to run unusual structures, and to handle events and groups.
The fourth was a real estate investor with deep experience renovating, remodeling and redesigning properties. That investor taught me which homes work as rentals, and the design guests actually book for.
Over seven years I've operated nearly 300 properties and facilitated more than 17,000 reservations, across 31 markets in 10 states, with a network of dozens of contractors and cleaning companies.
At one point I was running a hundred and fifty units at once. I was glued to my phone, always on and always distracted, because everything bottlenecked at me. I built Xenia so your guests' messages reach my team before they reach you.
These days I enjoy learning how to use AI tools and agentic workflows to run Xenia Hospitality Operations. The software takes on the repeat work. My team, trained on our own portfolios first, makes the calls. I also teach people how to launch, scale and operate hospitality businesses.
I look forward to seeing how I can be of service. I'll share everything I've learned to help you move your vision forward, earn money, and have peace of mind while you do it.
Send an inquiry and tell me what you're running.
